Finley

At the junction of the Newell and Riverina Highways just three hours’ drive from Melbourne, Finley is ideally situated for an overnight stop or an extended stay.

Leeton

From camping and summer fun at Gogeldrie Weir to the ultimate 1920s and 30s immersion at the Australian Art Deco Festival in July, you’ll never be short of things to do in Leeton Shire.

Tocumwal

Tocumwal is a thriving small rural town situated on the Murray River. With approximately 24 sandy beaches on the river, these are popular camping spots for travellers and holiday makers, who come here to go bushwalking, fishing, bird watching, boating and swimming.

Greater Shepparton

Located at the southern end of the Newell Highway, Greater Shepparton is a fantastic place to stop and stay a while. With magnificent food and wine, beautiful countryside and waterways, the area has glorious weather and plenty of activities for everyone.

Grenfell

A popular overnight stop a short drive east of the Newell Highway, and approximately midway between Melbourne and Brisbane, Grenfell sits at the foot of the picturesque Weddin Mountains National Park.

Warrumbungle Shire

Warrumbungle Shire straddles the Newell and is a place of many contrasts with great ways to fill your days… and nights. Coonabarabran is the Astronomy Capital of Australia and hosts Australia’s largest optical astronomy research facility, Siding Spring Observatory.

Gilgandra
